An Amazing Rhine River cruise on Scenic This was an amazing experience. It was our first river cruise and Scenic really hit it out of the park! The boat was beautiful, crew did everything to make our experience memorable, dining was Michelin-star quality and service. Excursions each day were very interesting and well organized. We visited two of the great European cathedrals in Strasbourg and Cologne, spent a morning basking in a spa at Baden Baden, and toured a 9th generation winery along the Moselle river. A highlight was a series of four talks by historian and author Robert Watson. He was very interesting and engaging. If we take another river cruise, it will definitely be on Scenic, and we would highly recommend this line and this cruise.

Take this tour!! I highly recommend this tour!!! We saw the Cairo nightlife in addition to tasting amazing food that we never would’ve been able to order on our own. We took a break at one point to sit outside at a colorful cafe and drink traditional mint tea. Our guide was the nicest guy!!!

Cairo in 2 days - experience for a lifetime We booked a 2 days private trip to see the highlights of Cairo, and we could see all the important sites without hurry. Mahmoud, our guide was telling all the historical details, he is very professional in egyptian history and he was very kind and friendly. Big plus that he also offered us a drink one day, and a tea on the other. The only negative experience was that we were forced to visit some shops to buy things (papyrus, parfume, souvenir), and we felt like that we have to buy something in order not to be considered rude. I would suggest to focus on the historical parts and dont involve clients in such awkward situations. Apart from this the 2 days were 10/10.

FAQs about Luxor Tours
Essential Egypt Travel Tips

How many days do you need for a Luxor tour?

You need a minimum of 2 to 3 days to see Luxor’s main highlights without rushing.

  • Day 1 (The East Bank): Dedicated to the living and the sun—exploring the massive Karnak Temple Complex and Luxor Temple
  • Day 2 (The West Bank): Dedicated to the afterlife—visiting the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.
  • Day 3 (Optional but recommended): A sunrise hot air balloon ride or a day trip to the nearby temples of Dendera and Abydos.

Is it possible to do a day trip to Luxor?

Yes, it is possible to do a day trip to Luxor, though it will be a packed day. A day trip typically involves visiting key attractions such as the Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, and the Valley of the Kings. While it’s feasible, the time constraints may limit the depth of your experience. If you are coming from Cairo, it’s best to take an early morning flight to maximize your time, and consider a guided tour for efficiency.

What is the best time of year to take a Luxor tour?

The absolute best time to visit Luxor is from October to April. During these months, daytime temperatures range from a comfortable 15°C to 28°C (59°F to 82°F), which is ideal for walking through unshaded archaeological sites. Summer Warning: From May to September, temperatures regularly cross 40°C (104°F). If you tour during summer, it’s highly recommended to book early-morning tours (starting around 5:00 AM or 6:00 AM) to avoid the midday desert heat.

What should I wear on a Luxor temple tour?

Dress code in Luxor is all about comfort and cultural respect. Clothing: Opt for loose, lightweight, and breathable fabrics (like cotton or linen). While at tourist sites, it is respectful to keep your shoulders and knees covered. Footwear: Wear sturdy, closed-toe walking shoes or sneakers. The terrain around the tombs and temples is dusty, uneven, and covered in gravel. Sun Protection: A wide-brimmed hat, high-SPF sunscreen, and sunglasses are non-negotiable items.

What is typically included in a Luxor day tour?

While inclusions vary by operator, a standard, high-quality day tour should cover: An Egyptologist guide, A licensed professional to explain the history and hieroglyphs. A/C Transportation: Pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, cruise ship, or even day trips from Hurghada. Lunch: Usually at a local restaurant (drinks are often extra). Note on Entrance Fees: Always check if the entry tickets to the temples and tombs are included. Many operators leave them out, so you have the flexibility to skip sites or pay for premium tombs (like King Tutankhamun or Seti I) on your own.

How long is the Karnak light show?

The Karnak Light and Sound Show lasts approximately 1 hour. This captivating show takes you on a journey through the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization, bringing the impressive Karnak Temple to life with a combination of light effects, narration, and music. It’s a must-see experience for those visiting Luxor in the evening.

Booking a Luxor day tour is the perfect way to explore the wonders of ancient Egypt, from the monumental Valley of the Kings to the majestic Karnak Temple. To help you plan your perfect day trip to Luxor and make the most of your time in Egypt, here are some essential travel tips:

  • Book Early for Best Availability: Luxor is one of Egypt’s top tourist destinations, and booking your tour with Tripianto in advance ensures you get the best availability, especially during peak travel seasons (winter and spring). Early bookings also allow for a more tailored experience to meet your preferences.
  • Choose a Tailored Itinerary: Luxor is home to many remarkable sites, including the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Luxor Temple. When selecting your tour, look for one that offers a customized itinerary based on your interests—whether you’re passionate about ancient history, photography, or architecture, there’s a tour option that fits.
  • Plan for a Full Day: A Luxor day tour typically involves a lot of walking and sightseeing. With so many iconic landmarks to visit, such as the Colossi of Memnon and Karnak Temple, it’s a good idea to set aside a full day for the tour to avoid feeling rushed and to fully immerse yourself in the experience.
  • Consider the Weather: Luxor is known for its intense heat, especially during the summer months (June to August). To avoid the peak heat of the day, consider booking your tour during the cooler months (November to March) or opting for an early morning start. Be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Include a Knowledgeable Guide: Local guides in Luxor are invaluable for bringing the history of the temples, tombs, and monuments to life. A good guide can explain the fascinating history behind each site, offer insights into ancient Egyptian culture, and ensure that you don’t miss any key details during your visit.
  • Wear Comfortable Footwear: Luxor is best explored on foot, so wearing comfortable shoes is essential, especially if you’re planning to visit multiple temples or tombs. The sites can involve significant walking, sometimes on uneven surfaces, so make sure you are prepared for the journey.
  • Bring Essential Items: In addition to water and sunscreen, pack a camera to capture the incredible beauty of Luxor’s ancient monuments. A small notebook or sketchbook can also come in handy if you want to jot down notes or sketch the awe-inspiring architecture.
  • Be Mindful of Time: Luxor’s sites are vast, and visiting them can take time. Make sure to stick to the itinerary and allocate sufficient time to explore each landmark. A well-organized tour with Tripianto will help ensure you see everything without feeling rushed.
  • Flexible Tour Options: If you’re looking for a more relaxed or specific experience, inquire about flexible tour options that may include time for shopping, dining, or even a Nile River cruise. Tailored experiences can make your day tour even more memorable.

By following these tips and booking your Luxor tour with Tripianto, you’ll be well-prepared to explore the wonders of Luxor, Egypt’s ancient capital, and enjoy an unforgettable adventure through time. Whether you’re marveling at the tombs of the Pharaohs or walking through temples that have stood for millennia, your Luxor experience will be one for the books!
